Dr. Usui and His Work Gain Wider Acceptance and Reknown

76 years ago, on 1 September 1923, one of the worst earthquakes in world history hit the Kanto plain and destroyed Tokyo, Yokohama, and the surrounding areas. About 140,000 people fell victim to this earthquake and the fires and floods it caused. Dr. Usui and his students worked tirelessly with injured people in the streets and in his clinic, causing him and his work to become reknowned.

The authentic photographs presented in this exhibition were taken by August Kengelbacher.

They are displayed here on my site by special permission of Peter Kengelbacher, to whom I am indebted.
